US President Joe Biden has cut funding for the wall on the border with Mexico. This is stated on the website of the White House.
The statement says that the new US administration “will not allow US taxpayers' funds to be spent on building a border wall.” The President asked to carefully check what the authorities spent on this project.
Biden also stopped the emergency regime in force at the border since 2019. According to him, this decision was unfounded.
The state of emergency was introduced by the 45th US President Donald Trump in February 2019: by doing so, he redistributed funds from other projects. In the summer of 2019, the Supreme Court approved the allocation of $ 2.5 billion from Pentagon funds for the construction of the wall. Trump promised to build a wall on the border between the United States and Mexico during his 2016 election campaign.
