The 47th president elected in the United States has questioned support for Ukraine, promising to end the war through agreements with Moscow.
Incumbent US President Joe Biden, in an effort to strengthen Ukraine, at the end of his term considered a public call to accept Ukraine into the NATO.
Bloomberg writes about this.
Joe Biden planned to make a bold statement, the source says. He was considering publicly calling for Ukraine to be invited to the Alliance, which, although symbolic, could be an important geopolitical signal of priority for the United States and its allies.
In addition to the potential appeal to NATO, the Biden administration has recently made a number of important decisions aimed at strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities. The 46th US President authorized strikes on military targets in Russia, which caused a negative reaction both in Moscow and among Trump supporters, who declared it an “unnecessary escalation.”
At the same time, Biden does not hide his position on supporting Ukraine, in particular, through cooperation with NATO allies. His administration sought to consolidate Kyiv's strong position in the face of a possible change in foreign policy under Trump.
The final decision on a public call to invite Ukraine to NATO was never made.
Recall that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are pursuing the goal of hitting Russian military infrastructure with long-range ATACMS missiles after Joe Biden authorized the use of such weapons to strike Russia.
