Joe Biden
Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden reacted to the electoral results that confirmed him as the winner of the election. The politician's speech was broadcast on YouTube CBS News.
The Democrat called the electoral college decision a clear victory over the incumbent Donald Trump. “306 electoral votes are the same as Trump and [current US Vice President Michael] Pence received when they won in 2016,” he stressed.
So, four years ago, a Republican called the electoral college vote an impressive victory, Biden recalled. “By his own standards, these numbers represented a clear victory then, and I respectfully suggest that they continue to be so now,” Biden added, urging not to attack the results of the expression of will.
The democrat said that “the rule of law, our constitution and the will of the people” prevailed in the country. He added that a record turnout was recorded in the elections, despite the coronavirus pandemic.
On December 14, Biden received 55 electoral votes in the state of California, thus gaining 302 votes. To win the presidential race, you need to get 270 electoral votes.
