Joe Biden
US President Joe Biden predicted a return to normal life in the country in a year. He made such a prediction at the end of the coronavirus pandemic during a speech, according to the White House's Twitter account.
“I was warned not to give an answer to this question, because we do not know for sure, but I hope that by this time next year we will be back to normal, perhaps even earlier,” the American leader said.
The head of state added that the goal of his administration – 100 million injections of coronavirus vaccinations in the first 100 days in power – will be achieved. “In 37 days we are already halfway to this goal, and I am sure that we will go all the way successfully,” he assured. Biden noted that he will use all the resources at the disposal of the US authorities for this. By the end of May, the country will have enough drug to vaccinate the entire adult population – 200 million people.
The president also announced that pharmaceutical company Merck will produce a coronavirus vaccine developed by its rival Johnson & Johnson. The agreement reached with the help of the White House will dramatically increase the potential for the drug's production.
In late February, Biden saw a “light at the end of the tunnel” in the coronavirus pandemic following approval for emergency use of Johnson & Johnson's COVID-19 vaccine by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The country also approved vaccines from Pfizer / BioNTech and Moderna.
