US President Joe Biden has pledged to vaccinate almost all Americans by the end of July. He announced this, speaking at the National Institutes of Health (Maryland), reports TASS.
According to him, by this time it is planned to receive doses of the vaccine for 300 million Americans.
Biden clarified that the US is now stocking up on the required amount of the drug. “This may not sound like the speedy progress we need, but let's be clear: when I took office, this country did not have a plan [to fight the pandemic],” the president said.
As of 2019, there are 328.2 million people in the United States.
Earlier, Biden said that his predecessor, Donald Trump, did not cope with the preparations for the coronavirus vaccination.
Biden, 78, received a Pfizer / BioNTech drug on December 21. Then he said that he had been vaccinated to set an example for fellow citizens and to show the safety of the drug. He expressed hope that residents will start going to vaccination centers immediately after the vaccine is distributed. He received the second dose of the drug on January 11.
