Biden Sr. noted that the persecution of his son was connected precisely with their family ties.
United States President Joe Biden pardoned his son Gantera Biden.
This is stated in a statement by the White House.
“I signed an executive order pardoning my son, Gunther. From the day I took office, I said I would not interfere in the Justice Department's decision-making, and I kept my word, even as I watched my son be selectively and unfairly prosecuted,” the statement said.
The error means Hunter Biden will not be convicted of his crimes. This also eliminates any chance of him going to prison.
“I hope the American people will understand why my father and the president came to this decision,” Joe Biden said.
Recall that Gunther Biden pleaded guilty to tax evasion in 2017 and 2018. According to media reports, his total tax debt was $1.2 million.
Biden's representatives said that he repaid the debt. Subsequently, the US Department of Justice brought new charges against Biden's son – he was accused of nine counts of tax evasion of at least $1.4 million and false tax returns.
