US President Joe Biden reversed another decision of his predecessor, Donald Trump. The order concerns import duties on aluminum from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), TASS reports with reference to the White House press service.
The American head considered it necessary to maintain duties on imports of aluminum products from the UAE. He explained this decision by the interests of national security, since products from an Arab country can displace domestic production.
Trump announced the decision to lift the 10% duties on aluminum from the UAE on January 20, Biden's inauguration day.
Earlier, the Biden administration suspended a number of arms deals to other countries. The Department of State attributes this to the need to “enable the new leadership to evaluate” such transactions, which is a common procedure when a new administration starts.
