Biden 'Open' to Sending Long-Range Cruise Missiles to Ukraine – Politico

The Pentagon declined to comment on whether it had approved the transfer of the missiles.

The Biden administration is “open” to providing Ukraine with long-range cruise missiles, which would give Ukrainian fighters F-16 more combat power power.

The White House's willingness to provide Ukraine with cruise missiles comes amid the successful Kursk operation, Politico writes.

A final decision on sending the missiles has not yet been made, but according to one Biden administration official, the administration is currently working on the details. Those issues include reviewing the transfer of sensitive technology and ensuring that Ukrainian aircraft can launch a 1,000-kilogram (2,200-pound) missile.

The Pentagon declined to comment on whether it had approved the transfer of the missiles.

“We are looking at a number of options to meet Ukraine's security assistance needs, but we don't have any information to share,” Pentagon spokesman Jeff Jurgensen said.

As negotiations continue at the White House and Pentagon, an administration official cautioned that much work remains before the missiles reach Ukraine, including ensuring that Ukraine's existing Soviet-era aircraft and newly delivered F-16s can launch missiles at targets more than 230 miles (about 370 km).

Earlier TSN.ua wrote whether Ukraine would use F-16s to strike at Russian territory.
