The US President does not believe the war will end until a two-state solution is achieved.
US President Joe Biden warned Israel against occupying the Gaza Strip.
The head of the White House said that he is confident that Israel will comply with the rules and customs of war, the Independent writes.
“There are standards that govern democratic institutions and countries. And so I am confident that innocent people in Gaza will be able to access medicine, food and water,” he said.
When asked whether he supported Israel's occupation of Gaza after the attack by Hamas militants, the president replied that he considered such a development to be wrong.
“I think it would be a big mistake. In my opinion, Hamas and the extreme elements of Hamas do not represent the entire Palestinian people. And I think it would be a mistake for Israel to reoccupy Gaza. But to go in there, drive out the extremists – Hezbollah.” in the north and Hamas in the south is a necessary requirement,” he said.
The US has quietly increased military aid to Israel
The Pentagon increased military aid to Israel without disclosure and provided Tel Aviv with more laser-guided missiles for Apache attack helicopters, as well as 155mm shells, night vision goggles, bunker-busting ammunition, and new army vehicles.
This is evidenced by a list of the US Department of Defense, which Bloomberg reviewed.
The weapons are listed in an internal document entitled “Requests from Israel's top leader.” It is dated late October.
According to this document, some weapons are already being delivered, and the Pentagon is also working to get weapons from stockpiles in the United States and Europe. In particular, as of the end of October, all 36 thousand shells for 30 mm guns, 1,800 M141 bunker-busting ammunition and at least 3,500 night vision devices had been delivered. They also handed over 312 Tamir interceptor missiles. Two Army Iron Dome batteries are heading to Israel by sea.
In addition, Israel will receive approximately 2,000 laser-guided Hellfire missiles for the AH-64 Apache, manufactured by Lockheed Martin, as well as more than 36,000 rounds of 30 mm ammunition for these helicopters.
Israel invited more than 57 thousand 155-mm high-explosive artillery shells and 20 thousand M4A1 rifles, about 5 thousand PVS-14 night vision devices, 3 thousand M141 hand-held ammunition, 400 120 mm 5 mortars. Additionally, the request includes 200 Switchblade 600 drones.
A Pentagon spokesman declined to discuss details, but the Defense Department said security aid for Israel continues to arrive almost daily.
