US President Joe Biden said that the country has imposed sanctions against the operator of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, Nord Stream 2 AG. It is reported by TASS.
“Today, I directed my administration to impose sanctions against Nord Stream 2 AG and its officials,” Biden said.
It became known earlier that the US authorities are preparing to impose sanctions on Nord Stream 2 AG. According to CNN, we are talking about sanctions that were blocked last year.
The reason for the new pressure on the gas pipeline was Russia's recognition of the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics (DNR and LNR). On Monday, February 21, the corresponding document was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, and the next day it was ratified by the State Duma and the Federation Council.
