American senators, Republican Rob Portman and Democrat Jeanne Shaheen, called on US President Joe Biden to send anti-aircraft and anti-ship missile systems to Ukraine, writes The Washington Post.

Two American politicians wrote an article in which they recalled that since 2014, Washington has allocated $ 2.5 billion in military assistance to Ukraine. “Since 2017, we have been providing assistance in the form of destructive weapons such as anti-tank missiles and heavy machine guns,” the article says.

The senators noted that the funds were intended to prepare the Ukrainian security forces for military action in the Donbass, and not for the allegedly impending “full-scale Russian invasion.” Portman and Shahin insist that the White House accelerate the pace of aid to Kiev and provide new weapons.

According to politicians, it is necessary to provide the armed forces of Ukraine with anti-aircraft, anti-tank and anti-ship systems, as well as means of electronic warfare. They believe that Biden should not support attempts to force Ukraine to “cede control in Donbass outside the framework of the Minsk agreements.”

Earlier, the DPR accused the United States of supplying paralysis-causing weapons to Ukraine. The Russian Defense Ministry believes that American private military companies are preparing a provocation with chemicals in eastern Ukraine.
