US President Joe Biden said he was ready to discuss all problematic issues with Russia and would not hesitate to raise them in his contacts with the Russian side. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
As the American leader stated, it is possible to cooperate with Russia on the issue of extending the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START-3), since this, among other things, is in the interests of the United States.
Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that Russia and the United States had begun work to extend the Treaty on the Reduction of Strategic Offensive Arms (START-3). “I can only say that experts are actively working in this direction. This is a practical work, and it started, ”the diplomat said.
On January 22, White House press secretary Jen Psaki announced that the US authorities are in favor of extending the missile treaty with Moscow for five years.
The Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty was signed in 2010 by the presidents of Russia and the United States – Dmitry Medvedev and Barack Obama. Its term expires in February 2021.
