US President-elect Donald Trump has prepared a detailed list of questions for incumbent President Joe Biden.
US President Joe Biden on Wednesday, November 13, asked his successor Donald Trump for support for Ukraine during their conversation at the White House, which lasted almost two hours.
This was announced by US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, Reuters reports.
“Biden emphasized that, in his view, continued U.S. support for Ukraine is in the interests of our national security,” he said at a press conference after the talks.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre called the meeting “very cordial” and “incredibly substantive,” adding that “important national security and domestic policy issues facing the country and the world” were discussed.
She also noted that President-elect Donald Trump has prepared a “detailed list of questions” for incumbent President Joe Biden.
In comments to The New York Post, President-elect Donald Trump said he and President Biden “were both very happy to see each other” and added that it was “a really good meeting.”
Trump noted that he and Biden discussed two issues on which they have disagreed in the past: the war in Ukraine, which Trump promised to end almost immediately after taking office, and the ongoing war in the Middle East.
“I wanted – I asked him for his views, and he gave them to me. I wanted to know what he thought about the situation that we're in. And he told me, he was very kind,” the president-elect noted.
In addition, the presidents discussed the transition of power on January 20, and Trump assured that it was happening “very smoothly” and that there was a “very good relationship” between his team and the current White House administration.
Trump also said that he hoped to see Biden again right before his inauguration, which the current Democratic president has already promised to attend.
