Lloyd Austin's final visit to Germany as Defense Secretary is scheduled for January 9.

The Biden administration intends to announce a “substantial” final military package for Ukraine during a Ramstein meeting in Germany.

AP reports this.

The announcement of a massive final package of military aid for Ukraine is expected to take place during Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin's visit to Germany on Thursday, January 9.

“There he will meet with representatives of about 50 partner countries that stood up for Ukraine after Russia invaded nearly three years ago,” the source reported, citing two senior officials of the US department.

They did not name the exact amount of aid, but said the package would be “significant,” although it would not include the full $4 billion that Congress has provided for Ukraine. According to them, there will probably be several billion dollars left over that the new defense team led by Donald Trump will be able to provide to Ukraine if it wants to do so.

Note that a meeting in the Ramstein format is scheduled to take place in Germany on January 9, where US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin will be present for the last time.
