Eurogamer journalists have selected the 10 best games of the year. This was reported on the project website.
The best game was named Unpacking – a puzzle game from the Witch Beam studio, the gameplay of which is based on the unpacking of various boxes. The title is available on PC and popular consoles. “There is something reassuring about tidily folding T-shirts and socks and proudly stacking books on once-empty shelves,” the title reporters noted.
In second place was Halo Infinite, which the authors called a worthy continuation of the legendary Halo series. In third place is Returnal: “In an ideal world, all exclusives should be like this: focused, distinct, reflecting the work of the developers put into them.”
Death's Door, Metroid Dread, Dorfromantik, Wildermyth, The Artful Escape, Hitman 3 and Forza Horizon 5 also hit the top 10.
In conclusion, experts noted that 2021 turned out to be a quiet year, when not many bright projects entered the market. “We need to wait next year to see the sequel to Breath of the Wild, Starfield, Elden Ring and Horizon Forbidden West,” reads the story.
In mid-December, the Games of the Year were announced at The Game Awards 2021. The main prize went to It Takes Two, an action-adventure title from Hazelight Studios.
