Berdimuhamedov established an international competition of Turkmen Alabayev
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has established an annual international competition “Brave Turkmen Alabai of the Year”, according to the newspaper “Neutral Turkmenistan”.
The decree of the head of state also prescribes to hold contests among creative workers – carpet weavers, painters, sculptors, etc. – on the artistic embodiment of the image of the Turkmen Alabayev in works of art.
The document defines the procedure for these competitions, as well as the prizes for the winners. In particular, the winner of the main competition will be awarded the “Main Prize of the President of Turkmenistan”. What the prize will be is not specified, while the winner of the international beauty contest of Akhal-Teke horses (or rather, the owner of the horse) receives a premium car. The winners of the creative competition will also receive valuable prizes.
This year, on the last Sunday of April, Turkmenistan will celebrate the Day of the Turkmen Alabay for the first time. The celebrations will take place simultaneously with the National Day of the Turkmen (Akhal-Teke) Horse.
Berdimuhamedov previously wrote a book and a poem about Turkmen Alabay, and also opened the statue “Turkmen Alabay” on the central avenue of Ashgabat.
