Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acquired a personal smartphone for the first time in 12 years – for a long time, the politician used only office gadgets and, according to him, did not experience the slightest discomfort.
During his years as prime minister of Israel, Netanyahu was almost the only citizen of a developed country who did not have a personal phone. Moreover, the politician was sincerely perplexed – why the owners of smartphones waste their time on photos.
– I don't understand the new world. Everyone is taking pictures. When do you have time to live your life? Everyone takes pictures of everyone. They just take pictures, that's all. Live your life. I don't have all the electronic devices. I am a free man, and you are all slaves to your devices. You are all slaves, Netanyahu declared back in 2014.
And now, after so many years, one of the most influential Israelis has joined the cohort of “slaves.” True, Netanyahu's personal number is unknown to the general public, and most of the calls addressed to him continue to come to the old office phone.
And, as far as is known, the ex-prime minister's messengers have not yet been installed either. But this is, for sure, a matter of time. By the way, it is quite possible that, freed from state concerns, Netanyahu will finally understand the “new world” and also become interested in photography.
The fourth early elections to the Israeli parliament, held against the backdrop of a political crisis, the consequences of the pandemic and accusations against Netanyahu, led to the change of the country's prime minister. The opposition parties managed to form a coalition and for the next two years, the chair of the prime minister was taken by the leader of the Yamina party, Naftali Bennett. Later, Yair Lapid, leader of the Yesh Atid party, will replace him in this post.
