Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croes is considering the possibility of introducing compulsory vaccinations, contrary to what he previously called such a step “political laziness.” Writes about this edition Politico.

The prime minister admitted that the number of patients in intensive care units makes him reconsider his views. “Good arguments can convince me … The goal is clear: we must vaccinate everyone. If coercion can help, then I would like to decide on that too, ”explained De Croo, adding that the final decision will be made in parliament anyway.

At the same time, the number of patients with COVID-19 in Belgian hospitals has already fallen – now there are less than two thousand, for the first time since the beginning of November. But the country's authorities expect it to grow again due to the omicron strain.

Earlier, Czech President Milos Zeman also called himself a supporter of compulsory vaccination against COVID-19. French President Emmanuel Macron also allowed the inclusion of the coronavirus vaccine in the mandatory list.
