Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko has released 14 political prisoners, including Belarusian opposition leader Sergei Tikhanovsky, at the request of US President Donald Trump.

This was stated by Lukashenko’s spokesperson Natalia Eismont, quoted by the Telegram channel “Pool of the First”.

According to her, most of those released are not citizens of Belarus. The list includes two citizens of Japan, three citizens of Poland, two citizens of Latvia, as well as representatives of Estonia, Sweden and the United States.

Also among those released are several Belarusians whom the regime had convicted of “extremist and terrorist activity.” One of them is Sergei Tikhanovsky, who spent more than five years behind bars.

“His release was accepted for humanitarian reasons – with the aim of reuniting his family,” Eismont said.

She also said that the talks between Lukashenko and US Presidential Special Representative Keith Kellogg lasted more than six hours. They discussed sanctions, the war in Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East, as well as Belarus' relations with Russia and China.

Earlier it was reported that the West is trying to find out Minsk’s position on a possible military escalation after the Zapad-2025 exercises, and at the same time warn about the consequences of participation.

We previously reported that US Special Representative Keith Kellogg met with Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko in Minsk.
