Because of the European Championship final: Eight million Brits take time off

Sunday will be the big football holiday in Great Britain. In order to be able to celebrate a European Championship triumph, millions of employees have already made provisions.

The “Three Lions” around Coach Gareth Southgate can write football history on Sunday. England is in a final for the first time since 1966, and is playing the first ever European Championship final in history. If the big hit against Italy in the domestic Wembley Stadium actually succeeds, the whole country would turn into a large party zone.

Therefore, millions of workers have already taken precautions, such as the “Sun” reports. According to this, eight million British workers have already taken Monday off.

And that is entirely in the interests of the government. The employer had asked, wherever possible, to leave the day off or at least to postpone the start of work.

Rossmere Primary School has also responded to this call and has gained worldwide attention with a Facebook post in the last few days. In the letter to the parents, the school had stated that it would postpone the start of school by two hours. The children do not have to be there until 10.30 a.m. So they should have the chance to watch the final. “We want rested children who are ready to study and not children who are absent all day,” the school management wrote.

In addition, it said that the parents should bring their children closer to values such as the British national anthem, national pride or the meaningfulness of sport as part of the live broadcast.

The school replied to critics that children were not encouraged to stay away from class. “They come a little later and are then ready and fit to take up lessons,” the school continued.
