In Zaporozhye, a man who sold his wife’s newborn child appeared before the court. The daughter of the would-be spouse was estimated at $ 7 thousand.
The incident occurred in the spring of 2017, but the verdict in the case was only pronounced now. Ordzhonikidze District Court of the city found the man guilty and sentenced him to five years in prison, replacing him with three years of probation.
Baby for sale
According to the investigation, the defendant and his then-pregnant wife decided to sell their child immediately after his birth.
They conducted negotiations with possible buyers in the Russian social network Vkontakte. The reason for the rejection of the child was that he could have been born allegedly with a different skin color.
Probably, we are talking about the fact that a woman could cheat on her husband, so she did not want to raise a “stranger” child.
When the would-be spouses found a “future mother” for the baby, they met and discussed all the details. The woman agreed to pay $7 thousand for a girl who was about to be born.
The parents planned to spend this money on a new house, and in this way they wanted to solve their apartment issue.
The police solved the crime
After the birth of a healthy girl, both the mother and the probable father handed her over to the woman. This fact was confirmed at the trial by the obstetrician who participated in the birth.
Immediately after that, she went to the police, and the couple were detained. It is noted that the withdrawn $ 7 thousand at that time amounted to 185 303 hryvnia.
Criminal proceedings were opened under Part 3 of Article 149 (Human trafficking committed against a newborn child by his parents) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
