Will Lucas Hernandez be behind bars for six months? The French team player in the service of Bayern faces jail time.
Next Tuesday, the 25-year-old defender has to appear at the Criminal Court 32 in Madrid and announce the prison in which the footballer would like to serve his six-month sentence. In any case, Bavaria's record transfer wants to appear in court. The lawyers of the French would like to try the next higher instance, but a decision on it should be a long time coming.
On Thursday, Bayern President Herbert Hainer commented on the allegations, even if he only commented on them sparingly. “These are Lucas Hernandez's private things. I don't want to rate that,” said Hainer at the opening of a club bar.
“He'll go down there next week and then we'll negotiate and then we'll see,” added Hainer. But when asked whether Munich would support their player, he did not want to leave any doubts, “Yes, of course” answered.
The prison sentence had already been imposed in 2019 after the professional footballer disregarded a ban on contact with his girlfriend at the time and now wife. In 2017, the couple had a physical argument. As a result, the six-month ban on contact was imposed on the professional footballer. The couple reconciled a little later, however, and traveled to Miami together. And thereby violated the ban on approach. When he returned to Spain – Hernandez was playing for Atletico Madrid at the time – the disregard of the ban on contact was exposed.
Hernandez's wife today only got off lightly because the notice had not yet been delivered to her at the time of departure. The Frenchman's lawyers moved to suspend the sentence, but the court refused.
