All the guys are under 25, but they are the winners of the biggest programming competition. They also believe in success at the Moscow Olympics. They tell you what is needed to win.

“Speed, knowledge, perseverance, ability to correctly distribute tasks. And in general – work, ”said Sultan Niyazbekov, a student of the Almaty International University of Information Technologies.

“This is the third time in a row that we have reached the world final. We educate children from school – we train them on difficult tasks, we participate in world tests, “said Nurzhan Duzbayev, Vice-Rector for Digitalization and Innovation of the International University of Information Technologies in Almaty.

The most brilliant students-programmers from all over the planet have gathered here. Out of 60 thousand, only 350 people from 42 countries made it to the final. Russian universities are represented by 15 teams – from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Samara, Perm, Nizhny Novgorod, Izhevsk and Volgograd.

“Everyone has their own trump cards. Now the team is strong. She will be able to achieve high places, but the competitors are also strong. This competition is always very exciting for those who are in the subject, “- said the associate professor of Moscow State University. Lomonosov, coach of the Moscow State University team, director of the regional world championship in programming Anton Pankratyev.

In the final, programmers will compete for five hours in logic, speed and strategy. Solve the most complex algorithmic problems that an ordinary person will never understand. The answer will be presented in the form of code in one of the programming languages. Students who complete the most tasks will win.

“In general, a team of three people has one computer at their disposal, but in the current reality the rules have changed – they will have three computers. And the teams are offered a set of tasks to solve – in the region of 12-13 tasks, ”Pankratyev added.

The International Student Programming Olympiad is the oldest and most prestigious team competition in the IT field. It has been held every year since 1977. Russia joined the championship 26 years ago, but today it is ahead of all countries in the number of medals – the country has become the winner 14 times. And in this final, the Russians are considered favorites.

“This is vivid proof that Russia has one of the best physics and mathematics schools, and that investment in talented students gives a serious return. For over 40 years, the competition in the art of programming has been an important event in the IT industry. The main thing is that it allows the participants to demonstrate deep mathematical knowledge, skill, and efficiency, ”said Mikhail Mishustin, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.

Nowhere without programming. The IT sector is developing rapidly. The modern digital environment is education, social networks, online shopping, virtual concert and museum space.

“The period of the pandemic has shown that IT continues its dynamic growth. And Russia now has competitive solutions that are entering foreign markets, and the attention of the government, ”said Alexander Pavlov, head of the Russian Fund for the Development of Information Technologies.

While the participants have an entertainment program. Everything will be decided on October 5. The main prize of the championship will be not only a medal and a champion title, but also employment. Traditionally, the winners are immediately invited to work in the largest IT companies in Russia and the world.
