People's Deputy Alexei Goncharenko claims that a Syrian Airlines plane landed in Budapest last night.
“There are reasons to suspect that Bashar al-Assad could have been on the plane. Or someone close to him. The flight's arrival was accompanied by high security measures. Non-disclosure agreements were signed with some airport employees,” he wrote, citing his sources.
Meanwhile, journalist Barak Ravid reported that Assad left Damascus around midnight and went to a Russian military base in Syria to fly from there to Moscow.
The head of the Syrian opposition abroad, Hadi al-Bahra, confirmed, that Damascus is now left without Bashar al-Assad.
Arab media write that the dictator probably fled to the UAE, Iran or Russia.
Syrian state television spoke to representatives of the opposition and announced the overthrow of Assad's government.
Rebels also freed thousands of prisoners from prisons, and government forces fled, burning documents.
The Israeli army confirmed that it had deployed forces in the buffer zone on the border with Syria and in several other places to ensure the safety of the Golan Heights communities and Israeli citizens.
