Kyiv and Barcelona have become sister cities. An agreement on cooperation between cities was signed in Barcelona by the mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Vitali Klitschko, and the mayor of Barcelona, Ada Kolou.

“City-level cooperation is very important today, because it is cities that play a key role in the development of states and deepening cooperation between them. The capital of Ukraine develops cooperation with European cities. Attracts help from partners, convinces them of the need for further support of Ukraine. Because we must be strong together! The victory of Ukraine in the war against the Russian barbarians is a guarantee of peace and tranquility in all of Europe” , – Klitschko stressed.

He noted that Barcelona has been providing significant assistance to Kyiv and Ukraine since the beginning of a large-scale war. In particular, she donated fire trucks to Ukraine, sends humanitarian aid, and provides temporary shelter to Ukrainian refugees.

Barcelona Mayor Ada Kolou stressed that Barcelona would continue to help and support Kyiv and Ukraine. In particular, the mayors discussed cooperation in the field of public transport, ecology, smart city and culture.

Barcelona became the seventh European city with which Kyiv has signed a twinning agreement since the start of Russia's large-scale aggression. Previously, Madrid, Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Oslo and Hamburg became sister cities of Kyiv. At the same time, twinning with Moscow and Minsk has been broken.
