Moscow. March 8. INTERFAX.RU – Street artist Banksy plans to raise more than 3.5 million euros for the UK National Health Service by auctioning his work.
According to the BBC, it is about graffiti that appeared in the main hospital in Southampton during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The original image will be sold at the auction, a copy will remain in the hospital. The meter-by-meter work depicts a boy playing with superhero figures. However, the Batman and Spider-Man figures have gone to the trash can as the child prefers a different superhero: a mask-and-cloak nurse doll.
This image was created in collaboration with hospital management and was posted next to the emergency room.
Auction house Christie's believes this work symbolizes hope and is a tribute to the artist for those who continue to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
