The publication reports that Baerbock is developing a plan on how Germany can transfer Taurus missiles to Ukraine without crossing Scholz's “red lines.”
“One of her options looks like this: the Germans hand over the Taurus to the British, who hand them over to the Ukrainians, but retain control over the deployment and targets. So far, the foreign minister has failed to succeed with Scholz,” the article says.
One of the problems is the issue of arms control, since this requires the German military. Experts note that the cruise missile can only be fully deployed with the help of the Bundeswehr, as this requires careful planning.
“Only then will the cruise missile be able to show its qualities: fly under enemy radars, automatically go around air defense positions and, finally, hit the target with an accuracy of less than three meters,” writes the media.
The authors of the article also noted that Berlin is trying to deploy the Taurus with its special advantages, so the help of the German military will be required. Scholz is categorically against this option.
“As an alternative, Taurus could be used in a smaller version – instead of large packets of mission data, only GPS target data will be sent to the system. However, in this case, Ukraine will not use high-tech weapons to their full potential,” — states the publication.
