Azerbaijani military arrested for desecration of bodies of Armenians

Four servicemen were arrested in Azerbaijan, who are suspected of mocking the bodies of Armenian soldiers and desecrating graves in the settlements of Nagorno-Karabakh. RIA Novosti reports this with reference to the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan.

According to the ministry, two of the four arrested committed desecration of the bodies of Armenians during the fighting in the Zangelan region. “In addition, they are suspected of filming their actions on the phone and spreading them on social networks,” the message says.

Two more servicemen were arrested in connection with the destruction of the graves of local residents in the Khojavend region. Vandals demolished several stone slabs in the cemetery and also recorded their actions on video.

Earlier, residents of several districts of Nagorno-Karabakh, which were later transferred to the control of Azerbaijan, began to massively dig up the remains of their relatives from the graves and take them to Armenia to avoid abuse. Many of them also decided to burn their houses so that they would not fall to the enemy.

On November 9, Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan adopted a ceasefire statement. The sides remained in their occupied positions, and three regions in Nagorno-Karabakh came under the control of the Azerbaijani side. Russian peacekeepers were brought into the region.
