Azerbaijan has announced a phased demobilization of servicemen called up because of the hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh. The corresponding order was signed by the President of the Republic, Ilham Aliyev, according to the website of the Ministry of Defense of the country.
Demobilization will take place from December 25 to April 15.
The armed conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh began on 27 September. The next day, Aliyev signed an order for partial mobilization. The Ministry of Defense of the republic stated that the country's army is sufficiently staffed, therefore, general mobilization is not required.
In turn, Armenia announced a general mobilization in connection with the aggravated conflict in Karabakh.
The hostilities ended after the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia signed a ceasefire agreement on November 9. According to this document, Yerevan cedes several districts of Karabakh to Baku, and Russian peacekeepers are being brought into the region.
