Austrians are charging up to 10% more for electricity this year

According to expert Johannes Mayer, an average household will pay almost 800 euros for electricity in 2021. This is due to network costs and higher taxes.

An average household with 3,500 kWh annual consumption will have to shell out 797 euros for the electricity bill in 2021 (as of January), 3.4 percent more than in 2020. E-Control expert Johannes Mayer said in the APA Talk.

The most expensive country is Carinthia with 915 euros, the biggest plus year-on-year is in Tyrol (table). The reasons are the network costs, which have been increased due to increased operator investments, and higher taxes.
