Austrian Labor Minister resigns over plagiarism charges

by alex

Austrian Minister of Labor, Family and Youth Christine Aschbacher resigned due to the pressure exerted on her against the background of accusations of plagiarism while writing her thesis. This was reported by TASS with reference to a statement by the ministry's press service.

Ashbakher noted that she made this decision because the media and political opponents did not allow her to conduct a fair examination of the work and refute the charges.

The minister was charged with plagiarism by an independent expert. He claimed that some fragments of the text for the dissertation were copied by Ashbakher without specifying specific references. In addition, the expert also spoke negatively about the diploma work of the minister, written in 2006. According to him, she is also full of plagiarism, moreover, Ashbacher lacks knowledge of the German language.

The university has promised to conduct an audit.
