Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz “strongly insists” that Europe register the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine as soon as possible, provided that the drug is really safe for people. He stated this on Wednesday to the European Medicines Agency (EMA).
– As for Sputnik V and other vaccines, I strongly insist that the responsible agency in the EU should register as soon as possible all vaccines that are safe. The more vaccines, the better, – said Kurz on the air of the TV channel “Oe-24.TV”.
Prior to this, Kurz said that the Austrian authorities are negotiating with the Russian side about a possible purchase of the vaccine in the event of its EMA certification and cooperation in production.
Earlier it was reported that Russian scientists were the first in the world to create a vaccine against coronavirus. The drug has passed all the necessary tests, where it has proven its effectiveness and safety. Now in our country, the procedure for vaccination of the population continues. Experts believe that this will help with the formation of herd immunity.
