Federal Chancellor of Austria Sebastian Kurz urged not to interfere with politics in the discussion of the Russian vaccine against coronavirus. He made the announcement on his Twitter.
“There should be no geopolitical taboos on the issue of vaccine admission. The European medical agency, of course, should accept both Chinese and Russian vaccines for confirmation if requested, ”the politician wrote.
He stressed that in the fight against the pandemic, every additional working vaccine is important, and that the global epidemic can only be defeated through international cooperation.
On February 2, the medical journal The Lancet published data that the results of the third phase of clinical trials of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine demonstrated 91.6% effectiveness against coronavirus. 19,866 people took part in testing the vaccine.
