The next financial setback for Vienna Austria. With Magenta, a company said goodbye to the “violets”.

At the end of the season, the mobile communications company will leave Vienna. At the same time, Magenta CEO Andreas Bierwirth is leaving the Supervisory Board of Austria, reports “sportsbusiness.at”.

“We are currently focusing our sponsorship on a few projects with a broad impact. In the soccer field, our biggest sponsorship is our engagement with the ÖFB,” a Magenta spokesman is quoted as saying.

“We recently had a cooperation with Austria Wien in the area of business boxes, which were difficult to use, not least because of the Corona. The main factor behind the withdrawal, however, is the above-mentioned reduction to a few sponsorships,” the company spokesman continued.

Wiener Austria is currently fighting for the Bundesliga license. The traditional club was denied permission to play for the coming season. The “violets” are said to be missing seven million euros or a bank guarantee. The association now has until April 21 to submit further documents.
