The Austrian authorities announced the introduction of strict quarantine due to the coronavirus pandemic. This was reported by Bloomberg with reference to the Chancellor of the Republic Sebastian Kurz on Saturday, November 14.
Kurz noted that schools, most shops and institutions will be closed in the country. People will be allowed to leave their homes only for shopping, visiting relatives and work, as well as for walking and playing sports. Grocery stores, pharmacies, banks, post offices, gas stations, tobacco and newspaper shops, and car repair shops remain open. Students will migrate to distance learning, and office staff should be relocated to remote work whenever possible.
The new restrictive measures will be introduced from November 17 and will last until December 6.
On November 13, the World Health Organization (WHO) recorded another record increase in coronavirus cases in the world per day – 628,136 new patients.
