Time is of the essence at Austria. In the background there are many people who cannot be released from part of their guilt.
If things don't go well in terms of sport, a coach takes responsibility. Even if other people around you have also made mistakes. If an association presents itself financially as ailing as Austria, then the logic alone leads to the president and the finance board, who – nomen est omen – heads the structure as the person responsible.
And yet there are many people in the background at Austria who cannot be released from part of their guilt. Who were informed about various actions over the years, as members of the supervisory board or the administrative board.
They all have excellent contacts in business, and Austria relies on its networks in good times, but above all in bad times like these, they are challenged. They represent well-known companies such as T-Mobile Austria, Vienna Airport, OMV, Energie Burgenland, REWE and the RTL Group. You can call yourself a managing director, member of the Federal Council, CEO or chairman of the board, have excellent connections in politics – and have so far not been able to give the club a few good answers to its financial survival question.
It is hard to believe that the supervisory board is a mindless body where decisions are only waved through without any questioning or corrective action. As is well known, Austria's precarious situation did not arise overnight; rather, it can be viewed as the result of wrong decisions over the years.
Time is of the essence, there are still a few days to submit the necessary documents for the license. Austria is currently working on the rescue almost around the clock. Empty promises like those made by Partner Insignia (a payment was agreed, it would have meant the license) can no longer be afforded. Especially not from the members of their own committees. They too have a duty.
