Vienna Austria defended itself bravely in the guest appearance at Salzburg, but lost in the end with 0: 1. Coach Manfred Schmid saw positive aspects.
With the violets, there is more optimism of purpose, because the hard numbers in the table are not so positive. After three games, Austria holds one point, only because of the better goal difference in front of bottom Wolfsberg (0: 3 against Rapid).
“We don't have to be ashamed of this performance,” said coach Schmid on “Sky” after the defeat at Salzburg. “We had the opportunity to take something with us. I'm satisfied with the performance, you can build on that.” He is particularly pleased with newcomer Noah Ohio, who came on in the 70th minute and was whistled back in the 82nd minute because of a striker foul alone in front of the empty goal.
“He's still physically not where he belongs,” said his coach. Otherwise he sees a bright future for the offensive player. “It's a sprint rocket, an absolute gem. We'll keep developing it until it can help us.” Salzburg's Adeyemi, who scored the gold goal for Mozartstadt in the 72nd minute, didn't need any help. “We didn't take the ball away,” said Schmid angrily.
In terms of the hunt for points, more has to come soon. “We have to be more compelling offensively,” said Schmid. Then came the already mentioned optimism of purpose: “If we continue like this, we will one day come to victory. We will force luck, then things will go uphill.”
