Another European country – Austria – wanted to produce the Russian Sputnik V vaccine and began negotiations on this matter. TASS writes about this with reference to the country's Chancellor Sebastian Kurz.
“As for the Russian Sputnik V vaccine, we are in contact. I spoke on the phone with [Russian President] Vladimir Putin. After that, we maintain constant contact with the Russian ambassador [in Vienna, Dmitry Lyubinsky], as well as manufacturing companies in Russia, ”the politician said.
According to him, the discussions mainly concern two issues. On the one hand, Austria is considering purchasing a vaccine if it is approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA). On the other hand, the parties are discussing the possible production of the vaccine in a European country.
Sputnik V is the world's first registered human adenovirus vaccine. Currently, the development of Russian scientists is among the ten best vaccine candidates in the list of the World Health Organization (WHO). In Russia, the vaccination campaign started on December 5, 2020.
