Austria and Hungary decided not to send weapons to Ukraine – media

by alex

At a time when Western countries are transferring weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine so that this war ends as soon as possible, Austria and Hungary decide to choose diametrically opposed tactics. This became known after the meeting of the defense ministers of both countries.

Actually, the Ministers of Defense of Austria and Hungary – Claudia Tanner and Christoph Salay-Bobrovnitsky – made the corresponding statement on Monday, January 30, at a meeting in Budapest. They explained this by saying that they do not want the war between Ukraine and Russia to escalate.

The position of Austria and Hungary regarding the war is “clear”

What in Vienna, that in Budapest they never tire of saying that they are “on the side of peace”, they will not hand over weapons and by this they show their clear position regarding the war.

At the same time, it should be said that these countries continue to help refugees who are escaping death, although this still applies more to Austria than Hungary, since Budapest often refuses shelter to people coming from Ukraine.

Please note Attention! The number of asylum applications in Austria tripled last year, to 108,490 applications. And in Hungary, only 46 requests were registered, because the country refuses to register refugees. And this happens contrary to the legislation of the European Union.

Orban's scandalous statements and the ineffectiveness of “appeasement of the aggressor” tactics

  • Other scandals related to Hungary's pro-Kremlin stance can be mentioned on this topic, and it can be seen that the top leadership of this country is broadcasting Putin's narratives. Actually, not so long ago, Prime Minister Viktor Orban called Ukraine a “no man's land”, comparing it with Afghanistan. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine immediately reacted to this. In particular, they noted that they had summoned the Hungarian ambassador for a frank conversation.
  • In addition, Orban does not tire of repeating that Russia is a “big state” and Putin cannot afford to lose the war against Ukraine. Here one can only recall the recent reflections of Boris Johnson on this subject. The former British prime minister is sure that if Ukraine had been accepted into NATO in time, and Europe had not pursued a policy of “appeasement of the aggressor”, then after February 24 there would have been no war. His statement is the best response to the decision of Vienna and Budapest not to give us arms.
