Australian Prime Minister Morrison promised to follow the US, Canada, the EU to expand sanctions against Russia

Prime Minister Scott Morrison of Australia on the air of the 7News TV channel promised, following the United States, Canada, the EU, to expand sanctions against Russia.
According to him, the sanctions will be directed against the oligarchs, whose economic weight is of strategic importance for Russia. Restrictions are also being imposed against members of the Russian parliament “who voted in favor of the use of military forces in Ukraine.”
The politician noted that he intends to agree in the United States on sanctions against citizens of Belarus “involved in the Russian invasion of Ukraine.”
“I would like to confirm that we are working with NATO to secure [supplies] of non-lethal military equipment and medical supplies for the people of Ukraine,” Morrison said.
Earlier, the President of the European Parliament (EP), Roberta Metsola, called on the European Union (EU) to impose “the most severe” sanctions against Russia. Metsola noted that the new sanctions should be “urgent and strict, no one should hide from them.”
On February 24, US President Joe Biden announced that Washington would impose additional sanctions and export restrictions against Russia. Later, the US Treasury announced that it was imposing restrictions on Russian banks, including Otkritie, Novikombank, and Sovcombank.
