AUA has to cancel flights from the UK

by alex

The landing ban for Great Britain and South Africa has been extended. Flights from these countries must now also be canceled.

The Austrian government recently extended the landing bans for planes from South Africa and Great Britain. For this reason, Austrian Airlines must remove their flights from these countries from their flight schedule again by January 24th.

However, the head of Austrian Airlines Alexis von Hoensbroech criticizes the landing bans as “epidemiologically ineffective”. Passengers could still come to Austria via other routes. Instead of the landing ban, he calls for mandatory coronavirus tests for travelers from South Africa and Great Britain.

The mutations of the coronavirus, which were initially detected in Great Britain and South Africa, have now also reached Austria. Five cases were known at the beginning of the week. All were discovered during tests at the airport. However, there is currently no cause for concern in this country.
