Kazakh authorities are ready to join the investigation into the attack on journalist Aidos Sadykov, which occurred on 18 June in Kyiv.

This was stated by the President of the Republic Kasim-Jomart Tokayev, writes Aqorda.

He emphasized that Kazakhstan has taken a course towards strengthening the rule of law, and therefore “all disagreements should be resolved exclusively within the legal framework, on the basis of current legislation, in accordance with basic international norms.”

“It is from this point of view that it is necessary to consider the crime that occurred on June 18 in Kyiv against Kazakh citizen Aidos Sadykov. I have instructed the diplomatic department and law enforcement agencies to send official inquiries regarding this serious incident,” he emphasized he.

Attack on a journalist from Kazakhstan

Yesterday in Kyiv an attempt was made on the life of the Kazakh opposition journalist Aidos Sadykov. Law enforcement officers found out that an unknown person approached the car parked on Viktor Yarmola Street, in which there was a husband and wife, and shot at the man, after which he disappeared. The woman was not injured.

A pre-trial investigation has begun into the attempted premeditated murder of a journalist, a citizen of Kazakhstan. The assassination attempt took place in the Shevchenko district of the capital, not far from the house where the couple lived.

Sadykov was operated on; he was in intensive care in serious condition. It was reported that the killer was aiming for the head using a silencer.
