Atletico Madrid have maintained their three-point lead over defending champions Real Madrid ahead of the final sprint for the Spanish soccer championship. One day after the first chaser in Cadiz went 3-0, coach Diego Simeone's team won 2-0 (1-0) against Huesca on Thursday evening. The goals against the relegation candidate were scored by Angel Correa (39th) and Yannick Carrasco (80th). Both had already scored in the 5-0 win against Eibar on Sunday.
After 32 of 38 laps, Atletico are three points ahead of local rivals Real. The “Colchoneros” are hoping for their eleventh championship title, the first since 2014. FC Barcelona overtook third-placed Sevilla FC with a win against Getafe on late Thursday evening (start of the game at 10:00 pm). The gap to Atletico would be five points for Lionel Messi and Co. with one game less.
