First title for Colon

Atletico Colon has secured the championship title of the Argentine Football League for the first time in the club's history. The club from the province of Santa Fe beat Racing Club from Avellaneda from the greater Buenos Aires area 3-0 on Friday. The goals at the Estadio Bicentenario in San Juan were scored by Rodrigo Aliendro (58th), Cristian Bernardi (72nd) and Alexis Castro (86th). Colon's greatest success so far was the runner-up title in 1997.

Old star Carlos Tevez is leaving Boca Juniors. “It's one of the saddest days of my life but I think it's the right decision,” said the 37-year-old striker. “If I'm not 100 percent mentally involved, I have to step aside.” After the death of his father, he now wants to spend more time with the family. “My career in this country is over. I always said: I only play for Boca here,” said Tevez. He left it open whether he might be hired again at a club abroad.
