At least 43 dead in Texas floods

27 children from Camp Mystic are listed as missing.

At least 43 people have died as a result of severe flooding in Kerr County, Texas, USA. Among them are 15 children. Another 27 children are missing.

CNN reported this, citing Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leith and Kerrville Mayor Dalton Rice.

At a news conference, Larry Leith said the disaster had killed at least 28 adults and 15 children. He said five children and 12 adults remained unidentified.

Kerrville Mayor Dalton Rice said 27 children from Camp Mystic are missing.

“We knew today was going to be a day like this, so our numbers were going to be constantly changing,” he said.

Rescue services continue search operations in the region most affected by the floods.

Earlier, it was reported that the US National Weather Service declared a state of emergency due to sudden severe flooding in Texas.

We previously reported that authorities were searching for 23 girls who were missing after their summer camp site flooded at around 04:00 local time.
