Arson of “Ukrainian Armed Forces Trucks” in Germany: National Security and Defense Council Reacts to Russian Sabotage

A group of Russians was apparently convinced that they were destroying Ukrainian Armed Forces equipment in Erfurt (Germany), but they were mistaken.

Russians set trucks on fire in Germany

Russians committed sabotage on German territory. The National Security and Defense Council advises Europe to take its own security seriously.

This statement was made by the head of the National Security and Defense Council's Center for Personal Data, Andriy Kovalenko.

What happened in Germany

As reported by HNA, a parking lot with Bundeswehr trucks was set on fire in Erfurt on June 21. As a result of the incident, at least six Rheinmetall MAN trucks burned down.

The responsibility for the sabotage, of course, is placed on the Russians. Most likely, they thought that the equipment belonged to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. However, the footage clearly shows that the cars have German license plates and Bundeswehr symbols.

Subsequently, Russian Telegram channels lied that the equipment allegedly belonged to the Ukrainian Armed Forces and was in Erfurt undergoing repairs.

“Our people decided that all this was unnecessary, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces did not need such equipment, and they simply burned it. That's how it is,” Russian publics write.

This is why the National Security and Defense Council emphasizes that it is time for Europe to take care of security on its own territory.

“Since unidentified persons are carrying out sabotage on the territory of European countries, burning military equipment (Germany) at a military facility, damaging equipment, and Russian war correspondents are bragging about it, this is not ok,” Kovalenko asserts.

He adds that in Russia the GRU is responsible for sabotage in European countries.

And information and cyber warfare has long been waged by Russia on NATO territory.

“Right now, a sabotage war is underway. Cable sabotage is something else, Naryshkin from the SVR was responsible for it. And sabotage on NATO territory against military facilities – it is impossible to ignore,” concluded Andrey Kovalenko.

Earlier, three Ukrainian citizens were arrested in Germany on suspicion of espionage and preparing terrorist attacks as part of a hybrid campaign linked to Russian intelligence services.

According to investigators, the suspects acted as agents of a foreign state for the purpose of sabotage. Two of them, Vladislav T. and Daniil B., were detained in Germany over the weekend. The third, Evgeny B., was arrested on Tuesday in Switzerland.
