Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the Armenian government intends to attract women to serve in combat army units within the framework of reforming the armed forces.
“There is a clause on the wider involvement of women in combat units of the Armed Forces in our program. The thesis about women's participation does not have an ideological or anti-ideological basis, but is conditioned exclusively by a pragmatic calculation, ”he said.
Pashinyan noted that women make up the majority of the population of Armenia.
“Insufficient use of their resources in any area means a distortion of the development potential of our country,” he added.
Earlier, Pashinyan said that Yerevan is ready to return to negotiations with Baku under the auspices of the OSCE.
