The country's Prime Minister said that "there is no other way".
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the country will withdraw from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
This is written by “Novosti-Armenia”.
During the “government hour” in parliament, an opposition MP asked the head of government why Armenia, expressing dissatisfaction with the CSTO, does not leave the organization.
In response, Pashinyan emphasized that Armenia itself will decide when to do so.
“We will leave. We will decide when. What do you think? What is the next step? Do you think we will go back? No, there is no other way. Don't worry, we will not go back,” the prime minister continued.
Pashinyan has repeatedly criticized the CSTO, including because of the “neutral” position that the organization took on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the lack of support from member countries organizations.
He also called the CSTO a “bubble alliance” whose members, together with Azerbaijan, “were preparing a war” against Armenia.
Recall that last month Armenia refused to finance the CSTO. Armenian Foreign Ministry Press Secretary Ani Badalyan said that Yerevan would refrain from joining the CSTO Collective Security Council decision of November 23, 2023 “On the CSTO budget for 2024” and participating in the financing of the organization's activities provided for by this decision.
