Armenia Agrees with Russia to Purchase One Million Doses of Sputnik V Vaccine
Armenia has reached an agreement with Russia at a high level on the purchase of one million doses of Sputnik V vaccine. Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan stated this in the parliament of the republic, TASS reports.
“I would like to note that there is a high-level agreement on the purchase of 1 million doses of Sputnik V vaccine from the Russian Federation. Taking into account other agreements, we consider it possible to vaccinate up to 20% of the population by the end of the year, ”said the head of the Ministry of Health.
Recall that in the country the drug “Sputnik V” is used to vaccinate citizens under the age of 54. For elderly residents of the republic, according to the decree of the Ministry of Health, AstraZeneca is used, the vaccination of which began on April 13.
Earlier, scientists from Argentina found that one dose of “Sputnik V” can induce lasting immunity. In addition, 96% of people under the age of 60 were found to have antibodies on day 21 after a single dose of the vaccine. Among people over 60, this figure is 89%.
The head of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte, also announced the purchase of the Russian drug. Recently, during a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, he discussed the supply of the drug.
