Armed assailants hijacked a truck carrying the precious cargo en route to the port of Manzanillo. The company lost millions of dollars.

In Mexico, armed criminals robbed a truck carrying 33 tons of gold and silver concentrate belonging to the company Grupo Minero Bacis.

This was reported by Bloomberg.

The incident occurred during the transportation of cargo to the port of Manzanillo. According to company representatives, the attackers blocked the truck with two white cars, captured the driver and guards and held them for more than an hour. The truck itself was later found, but the trailer with the precious cargo disappeared.

The robbery comes amid a rise in highway robberies in Mexico, which have increased by more than 30% in the first two months of 2025, with at least one robbery attempt recorded every hour.

Gold and silver concentrates are valuable raw materials with a high content of precious metals that are mined before further processing.

Let us recall that a criminal scheme called “judging” is gaining momentum in the United States. Criminals follow people who have just withdrawn cash from ATMs or banks, and then attack them, often near their cars or homes. Everything happens in a matter of seconds. Police are recording a rapid increase in such cases in several states.
